HISTORY

Established in 1962 after the Poona flood, Jawaharlal English School (J.E.S), founded by an enterprising teacher, who catered education to the lower middle class students living in the rehabilitation hutments in and around Gultekdi, was taken over by KERALA PEOPLE'S EDUCATION SOCIETY (K.P.E.S), in 1975.

K.P.E.S. was formed by a group of like-minded Malayalees of Pune, who wanted to contribute something concrete towards building the next generation. Led by Late (Shri.) P.U. Srinivasan, they toiled keenly with gusto to develop the school into a full-fledged institution.

Affiliated to the Maharashtra Board of Secondary Education, the school is one of the ancient landmarks of old Pune. This school brings home all the aspects of English medium education to the middle class who cannot afford the extravaganza of the affluent convent schools of Pune.

JAWAHARLAL ENGLISH SCHOOL IS AN UNAIDED LINGUISTIC MINORITY INSTITUTION
